Start Working Towards Victory Requirements
In a normal game of Civilization, there are a lot of things to take care of. At the beginning, players will be busy just gathering resources and building important districts and buildings. Because of this, most people won’t even have time to think about meeting victory requirements, even if they have a specific success in mind.
By the Industrial Era, though, most societies should have a good number of cities that are well-built. The Industrial Era marks the middle of Flappy Bird, so now is the best time to start thinking about how to win.
Build New Military Units
Every new era brings a bunch of new tools, units, and ways of doing things. If you want to go to war with other countries, you need a strong force. To keep from being taken over by other countries, it is very important to keep upgrading armed units to the latest level.
With the new Military Science tech, cultures will be able to make Line Infantry and Cavalry, which will be the new standard for melee and mounted units. Even if a society doesn’t need a strong army, they should try to have at least a few of these units around.
Power Up Cities With Power Plants
The Gathering Storm extra pack added the Power mechanic, which comes into play with the Industrial Era. Power is a measure of how much energy is flowing through a city at any given time. Buildings that use Power are much more useful than those that don’t.
Power is used by a lot of late-game buildings, so it’s important to build up energy sources early on. When players research Industrialization, they will be able to build Coal Power Plants, which are the first Power Plant building in the game. Even though these buildings will add to smog, you have to have Power to stay ahead in games.
Upgrade Roads To Railroads
In Civilization 6, roads are an important improvement because they make it easier and faster for units to move from one place to another. Traders often build roads, but only military engineers can make them better so that they can be used by trains. Railroads make it much easier for units to move around and help traders earn more cash. But they are bad for the earth, so it’s important to use them as little as possible.
Military engineers are available as early as the Middle Ages, but they can’t build trains until the Industrial Era because they need coal. When they do become available, though, players should try to replace as many roads as they can to make it easier to move around their towns.
Boost Army Strength With Corps And Fleets
During the Industrial Era, a number of new civics are created. One of the most important military civics is the Nationalism civic. With the Nationalism civic, players can make Corps and Fleets with two similar units, among other things. Corps is a combined unit on land, and Fleet is a combined unit on the water.
Having a Corps instead of just two separate units has a number of perks. For one thing, a unit that works together does more damage total. A merged unit costs less gold than two separate units, which makes them more cost-effective. If a player wants to win by Dominance, they should build as many Corps and Fleets as they can.
Expand Housing With Neighborhoods
Housing is one of the most important parts of Civilization 6, because it decides how many people can live in a city. If a city hits that number, it will never get any more people until it finds a way to add more housing.
There are a lot of ways to build more homes, but building a neighborhood is one of the easiest. A neighborhood is an area that can be built on more than once, giving a big boost to the number of homes each time. Even though neighborhoods might take the place of more useful districts or tile improvements, they can be a choice when housing is cheap and there is a lot of space to build.
Start Unearthing Artifacts With Archaeologists
When the Industrial Era is reached, the Natural History civic is one of many that can be used. When the civic is looked up, it shows ancient places on the map and lets you make an Archaeologist in any city with an archaeological museum.
Once an Archaeologist is made, it can go to one of these ancient sites and dig up something that can be put on show in a museum. These artifacts are great for tourists, so anyone who wants a Cultural Victory should start working right away to find as many of them as possible.
