AUSTIN The State Board of Training is proud to acknowledge the 15 recipients of the 2022 Scholar Heroes Award. Honoring Texas public faculty college students who voluntarily carry out acts of kindness, this yr’s recipients vary from third graders to highschool seniors. Every have displayed a servants coronary heart and compassion for his or her friends, classmates, and communities.

The scholars have been offered with a plaque and a medallion throughout ceremonies at their respective faculties. The board permitted a decision of their honor through the common assembly of the SBOE in Austin on June 17, 2022.
District 1: Award recipient Ashley Manquero was offered by SBOE member Georgina Pérez.
Manquero, a senior at Odessa Profession and Technical Early Faculty Excessive College in Ector County ISD, is a tough employee who thinks of others’ wants and has the initiative to make issues occur. Her accomplishments vary from serving to the homeless to advocating for girls in abusive relationships. Throughout her senior yr, she organized a pad drive for low-income and homeless individuals, collected hygiene packages, participated as an advocate on a management council at a disaster middle, and visited hospitals as a superhero to brighten youngsters’s days. She is decided to proceed serving others and be a hero in her neighborhood, the discharge stated.
